We are excited to announce a new partnership with filmmakers Minos Papas and Michael Day on their new short film “Tango on the Balcony”. This partnership is specially important to us since Veteran Michael Day is an alumni of the I WAS THERE Films Workshop, and Minos Papas is one of our instructors.
The film is is a narrative short about Johnny, an Iraq War Veteran who wrestles with post traumatic stress (PTSD) and the transition to civilian life. Johnny is tormented by an incessant hyper vigilance and insomnia, and the lingering questions of his past actions in combat. ‚ÄúTANGO ON THE BALCONY‚Äù seeks to avoid clich√© representations of Veterans, and portray some of the real issues faced by those transitioning to civilian life. The filmmakers want to create a film that will authentically portray the symptoms of PTSD and be as close to the Veteran experience of transition as possible in order to raise awareness about Post Traumatic Stress. This is a non-political agenda, being neither for or against the wars. “Tango on the Balcony” and I WAS THERE Films share a commitment to spread awareness about the Veteran experience, promoting awareness of Veteran issues and bridging the gap between veterans and civilians.
